Inaugural Wine Wankers Options Night at Collins Quarter

Wines For Wankers...

Tuesday Night, October 27th, 2009

Chalker Empire (Gin Palace, Collins Quarter, Madame Brussels, Champagne House of Ra) wine aficionados congregated at Collins Quarter and Champagne House of Ra, to enjoy a night of education and damned good drinking, with inspiration coming from the grapes of Burgundy. You may have heard of it, a little patch of dirt that makes some reasonable booze. A bit girly for some, but certainly right down the alley (Pink Alley, back of CQ of course) of those in attendance.

Details aside, the aim of the game was to broaden everyone's ideas about the different personalities of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, dressing it up in a sport known as options, throwing on some Black Tie garb, to be a little silly, and everyone walking away with a little more knowledge than they started with.

Chef Michael Nunn covered himself in glory and proved that his time spent at Berry Bros. was well worthwhile. The rest of the crew all had their moments of clarity throughout the evening, and Carly will remember to go with her gut instincts the next time around. Young Tom started to see more than ever before, and despite having a fairly serious head cold Bec Dunn worked extra hard at tasting the wine and exploring its structure. Vernon fell in love (again) with Bannockburn Serre Pinot Noir, and the hits kept on coming throughout the evening.

Well done to all in attendance, and we are already looking forward to our next Wanker assault when we take on Piedmont in early January.
