Serving it up at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Out front of the Yacht International VIP Pavilion

After only just returning from Monaco, Dan topped up his fake tan and jetted off again heading this time to the US of A for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Though the contrast between the two cities could not be more extreme, the insane amount of wealth on show was not.

What brings us here you ask? Well Team Wine Guide was again on hand to promote the training program we run for Triple S Consultancy but also assist in the service for the Yacht International Magazine VIP Pavilion, as well as Fraser Yachts and The Yacht Report Group stands. Needless to say it's been a hectic schedule but amongst the hard work the odd indulgence was there for the taking thanks to Black River Caviar. These 'wild raised' small balls of deliciousness from Rio Negro, Uruguay are simply divine and the hard work these guys have put into the project, clearly shows in the product. Keep an eye out for them as they will soon be available in Australia seek it out!

Not bad weather for yacht shopping ...

Add to this over 30 liters of Margaritas, 400 mojitos (in less than an hour!), 40 odd litres of Vodka, god knows how much tequila, cases upon cases of wine and more, the privileged few were suitably socially lubricated, refreshed, and able quench a well earned thirst after a solid day shopping, networking and selling. (and even witnessed a $56 million deal, nice).

Somewhat surprised, (though encouraging) the wines of Kreglinger and Ninth Island were the only wine sponsors of the Pavilion. Forward vision indeed as they were the only wine sponsor we saw at the whole event hence were able to enjoy brand exposure in blissful isolation. So much so that they ran out of stock on day 2 of a 5 day show, whoops! Other brands take note; opportunity missed?

Still, good for them and not only were the wines well received, TWG was even more impressed by the fact the majority of Floridians knew where Tasmania was and were excited to try Australian wine. Whats all this talk about negative press in the US then, hey?

True to its claim as the biggest floating yacht show in the world, the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is simply huge. In size, stature, volume, money and girth (ahem!). But as soon as it began, it was time to pack the SUV, grab a super sized sub (with a side of fries), sneak in a cheeseburger and head to Miami Airport. For now, Dan's off to Barcelona to conduct a week wine training course on the Mega Yacht, Pelorus.

 holy crap, speaking of huge.

More on that later ...
